Therapy for Embodied Healing
Welcome!
I’m Ben Shechet (he/him). I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) providing in-person and telehealth therapy in North Carolina. My orientation to therapy is rooted in the view that at the deepest level we are whole, complete, and capable; we all have the capacity for love, wisdom, and connection within us. And sometimes we need a little help accessing that.
My job is not to fix or change anyone—it is to help and support you in connecting with your own ability to grow and meet your life fully. If you are interested in an approach to therapy that meets you where you are and brings you into contact with your own capacity for deep healing, I’d love to learn more about you and your story.
Areas of Practice
Internal Family Systems
IFS is a non-pathologizing approach to therapy that works with the many parts that make us a whole being. As an IFS therapist, I help clients explore their parts, understand the roles they play, and heal the hurts that limit our freedom and ease.
Meditation & Mindfulness
For thousands of years, people have understood the power that deliberate attention has to support our well-being. I work to make these skills and tools accessible in the midst of a busy, modern life—no monastery or mountain retreat needed.
Psychedelic Integration
With a background in psychedelic research, I offer support to individuals who are working to understand and integrate experiences in non-ordinary states of consciousness, whether those experiences are positive, confusing, or difficult.
Affirming, Open and Aware
I strive to hold a therapy space that is open to people from all walks of life. I am LGBTQ+ affirming, and work to be cognizant of the ways race, class, gender, sexuality, and ancestry inform our worldviews and lived experiences. My ultimate goal is for you to feel safe, seen, heard, and understood just as you are.
